Huawei is advancing its wide-aspect ratio smartphone lineup, beginning with the launch of the Pura X Max in the Chinese market on April 20, 2026. Priced at 10,999 yuan, the Pura X Max features a 5.4-inch OLED display when closed that expands to a 7.7-inch flexible OLED panel. Utilizing LTPO 2.0 technology with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, the device is designed to mimic the form factor of a small book or mini-tablet to improve multitasking and media consumption. Building on this series, Huawei is preparing to launch the Pura X2, a second-generation wide-foldable smartphone. While maintaining the 6.3-inch inner display size of its predecessor, the Pura X2 will transition both its inner and outer screens to a 2:1 aspect ratio. Huawei executive Yu Chengdong noted that this proportion remains constant when folded, which helps reduce visual distortion and eliminate the black bars often seen on large foldable devices during video playback.
