During the Diamond League athletics meetings in Switzerland, several high-level performances and records were established. In Lausanne, Masai Russell won the women’s 100m hurdles with a meeting record of 12.27 seconds, while Audrey Werro set a new meeting record in the women’s 800m with a time of 1:55.33. Pia Skrzyszowska placed fifth in the 100m hurdles. Following these events, the Diamond League meeting in Zurich saw the establishment of two new world records at the Letzigrund stadium. Alison dos Santos set a new world record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 45.80 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 45.94 seconds held by Norway’s Karsten Warholm. Warholm finished second in the race with a time of 46.69 seconds, followed by Nigeria’s Ezequiel Nathaniel in third. This victory marked dos Santos’s fifth Diamond League win of the 2026 season. His achievement makes him and Warholm the only athletes in history to complete the 400m hurdles in the 45-second range. Dos Santos noted that “favorable weather and the track conditions” contributed to the achievement. In the women’s 100m hurdles, Masai Russell also achieved a historic performance by breaking the world record with a time of 12.09 seconds, improving upon the 2022 mark of 12.12 seconds held by Tobi Amusan. Russell attributed her success to the “electric atmosphere and the momentum from Dos Santos’s performance.” Both dos Santos and Russell earned a world record prize of $80,000 for their achievements. Additionally, Audrey Werro recorded a Diamond League record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.70.
