Diesel fuel thefts in Germany

Overview

A series of diesel thefts has been reported in Germany. In Bernau, unknown perpetrators breached a mobile fuel tank at a construction site on Johann-Friedrich-A.-Borsig-Straße, resulting in the loss of several hundred liters of fuel and approximately 2,000 euros in property damage.

Following this, police in Suhl began investigating two separate thefts in the Schneekopf area occurring between August 27 and August 28, 2026. In these incidents, approximately 450 liters of diesel were pumped from forestry machinery, and a toolbox was stolen. Total damages in the Suhl incidents are estimated at 1,500 euros. Authorities are investigating a potential connection between the two thefts.
