Diesel shortages in France

Overview

France is experiencing diesel shortages, with approximately 90% of fuel availability incidents reported at TotalEnergies service stations. The shortage is attributed to geopolitical tensions that have blocked imports from the Middle East, which previously provided one-third of the country’s diesel supply.

The French Treasury Directorate General has warned of rising maritime transport costs and significant delays from alternative suppliers. In response, the National Federation of Transport Associations of Spain (Fenadismer) has issued an urgent recommendation to Spanish transport companies and independent drivers to fill their tanks to maximum capacity before crossing the border to avoid being immobilized within French territory.
