In 1846, Le Verrier sent these coordinates to the Berlin Observatory, where Johann Gottfried Galle and Heinrich d'Arrest confirmed the presence of the planet. This event sparked a scientific and diplomatic dispute between France and Great Britain, as British astronomer John Couch Adams had performed similar calculations months earlier.

Scientists describe Neptune as an ‘impossible world’ due to its daunting and somber environment. While Galileo Galilei observed the body in 1612, he mistakenly identified it as a star. Following the reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet, Neptune remains the eighth and most distant planet from the Sun.
