The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. This follows a directive from the Bombay High Court, which ordered a fresh investigation to be supervised by a senior CBI officer, criticizing the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years and noting “glaring discrepancies” in the original investigation. The FIR was initiated after Salian’s father, Satish Salian, recorded a statement alleging a criminal conspiracy and a subsequent cover-up regarding his daughter’s June 2020 death in Mumbai. He claimed that certain individuals worked to propagate a false suicide narrative and suppressed or destroyed evidence. The investigation will examine charges including criminal conspiracy, murder, gang-rape, and the destruction or fabrication of evidence, as well as potential negligence by medical staff and forensic officials. In response to the legal developments, Aaditya Thackeray has rejected the ₹500-crore defamation notice issued by Satish Salian, dismissing the demand as “frivolous” and “legally misconceived.” Thackeray’s legal counsel argued that his social media posts did not specifically identify Salian but addressed a broader political campaign, noting that the CBI probe has recorded no adverse findings against him. Actor Sooraj Pancholi has also addressed the investigation, stating on social media that he has never met Salian or Aaditya Thackeray. Pancholi expressed frustration over being linked to the matter and reported receiving online abuse and death threats. He stated he has nothing to hide and is willing to face legal consequences, but urged agencies to clearly communicate if he is found to have no connection to the case. The FIR includes several individuals for investigation, including Pancholi, Thackeray, Rohan Roy, and Rhea Chakraborty.
