Dispute over Milan Lasica interview publication
Overview
A controversy has emerged in Slovakia regarding a book of interviews with the late artist Milan Lasica, authored by writer Jozef Banáš. The publication, featuring discussions recorded during the 1990s, was released as a supplement to the weekly Plus 7 dní.
Hana Lasicová, the daughter of the late comedian, has criticized the project, claiming the interviews were unauthorized and that Banáš had previously attempted to pressure her father regarding Banáš’s past involvement with the ŠtB (secret police).
Following the backlash, the publishing house Ikar terminated its cooperation with Banáš. Banáš admitted to breaking a written promise made to the family’s legal representative regarding the non-publication of the material. He stated that after Ikar declined the work, he accepted an offer from a different publisher, citing a desire to preserve Lasica’s legacy.
