Country music icon Dolly Parton passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer. A legendary singer, songwriter, and philanthropist known as the ‘Queen of Country,’ Parton leaves behind a massive cultural and economic legacy. Her total estate is estimated at $450 million. Parton was equally recognized for her extensive humanitarian work. Through the Dollywood Foundation, she launched the Imagination Library in 1995, which has provided millions of books to children. Throughout her life, she donated more than $600 million to various causes, including education and HIV/AIDS research. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations to the Imagination Library. In a unique tribute to her future fans, Parton left a song titled ‘My Place in History’ in a time capsule known as the ‘Dream Box’ at her DreamMore Resort in Tennessee.
