It is scheduled to be opened on January 19, 2046, to coincide with what would have been her 100th birthday. Parton had previously expressed confidence in the song's quality but voiced concerns regarding the long-term preservation of the physical media and playback equipment within the sealed container.

Following her death, tributes have poured in from family and fellow artists, including her niece, Rebecca Seiver, and goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. A private funeral service for immediate family members is planned at the Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, Tennessee.
