Domestic violence and murder investigations in India

Overview

Police in India have investigated several separate incidents of suspected domestic violence and suspicious deaths involving women.

In Kerala, a man named Kuriakose was taken into custody following the alleged stabbing death of his wife, Kunjamma, in Kothamangalam. Investigators are looking into whether a family dispute led to the incident.

In West Bengal, authorities have handled multiple cases. In the North 24 Parganas district, Prosenjit Basu was detained following the death of his wife, Riya Debnath, amid allegations of physical abuse. In the Bankura district, Mangal Choudhury was arrested for the alleged murder of both his wife, Rumpa Choudhury, and his father, Rajendra Choudhury. Investigators in the Bankura case are examining whether the killings were linked to occult practices.
