Dominican Chocolate Festival sixth edition

Overview

The sixth edition of the Dominican Chocolate Festival concluded with events in Santiago and Santo Domingo. Organized by the Consorcio Ambiental Dominicano (CAD), the festival featured approximately 18 to 20 national brands showcasing artisanal chocolates, cocoa-based beverages, and other derivatives.

The initiative aimed to promote the industrialization of Dominican cacao by transforming raw materials into finished products. This strategy seeks to add value to national production, increase income across the supply chain, and expand commercial opportunities in domestic and international markets. The festival utilized exhibitions, tastings, and sensory experiences to highlight local transformation processes.

Industry representatives and the Asociación Dominicana de Chocolaterías (ADOCHOCO) emphasized the importance of strengthening the national industry. Participants noted a growing trend of exporting finished chocolate bars and highlighted the need for increased investment and specialized credit lines to help micro-enterprises scale production.
