The Dominican Republic has expanded its consular presence in New York City through the establishment of new, permanent facilities authorized by the United States Department of State. By late August, while community leaders like Radhamés Rodríguez continued to welcome the new consular offices, other members of the diaspora in New York and recognizing New Jersey began calling for further improvements. Community leaders, including Ángel Mota Ramírez, have expressed concerns regarding the community’s capacity of the JCE to meet demand, specifically requesting that the agency streamline the issuance of new identity cards (cédulas) abroad to better serve the diaspora's economic and social contributions. needs.
