Despite mediation efforts by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs and Pro Consumidor, no satisfactory agreement has been reached. The potential shift to cash-only transactions has drawn criticism from the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep), as well as business leaders and legislators, who warn of a negative impact on consumers and the country's digital economy. Consumers have also expressed concerns regarding the inconvenience of carrying cash and the associated security risks.
