Dominican Republic police infrastructure development
Overview
The Dominican Republic has initiated several projects to expand and modernize its police infrastructure to enhance citizen security and operational capacity.
In October 2026, construction began on a new Type I police station in the Majagual municipal district of Monte Plata province. This project, costing over 21 million pesos, includes specialized spaces such as cells, offices for the Criminal Investigation Department (DICRIM), and an arms depot to serve approximately 2,219 residents.
By November 2026, the government inaugurated a modern police complex in Juan Dolio, Guayacanes. This larger investment, exceeding 55 million pesos, features a two-story station and the remodeling of the Sgto. Roberto Mercedes Department. The complex provides facilities for DICRIM and the General Directorate of Transit and Land Transport Security (DIGESETT), aiming to protect both local residents and tourists in the coastal area.
