The Dominican Winter Baseball League (LIDOM) is marked by historical commemorations and significant franchise rivalries. The season began around the 71st anniversary of the first night game played between rivals Tigres del Licey and Leones del Escogido, a matchup that originally occurred in 1955. Further league activity includes high-stakes matchups between Águilas Cibaeñas and Tigres del Licey at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium. Additionally, the Gigantes del Cibao are celebrating 30 years of professional baseball participation, honoring the players and leaders who have shaped the franchise since its 1996 debut. During the 2026-2027 season, recent matchups have seen several teams securing winning streaks.
