DRC Prime Minister regional development initiatives
Overview
Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka has undertaken several initiatives across the Democratic Republic of the Congo to advance the 2024-2028 Government Action Program, focusing on economic development, infrastructure, and connectivity.
In Kongo-Central, the Prime Minister inaugurated a modern river transport complex on the Inkisi River in the Madimba territory. Funded by the COPA-TRANSFORME project, the facility includes three boats with a 6,700-tonne cargo capacity to connect production zones to commercial centers. She also inaugurated a museum of Congolese entrepreneurship at the VALMASKET commercial complex to honor economic history and support local employment.
Expanding these efforts to Maniema province, Suminwa launched the $300 million TRANSFORME project in Kindu. This World Bank-funded initiative aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises and women entrepreneurs. Her activities in the region also include launching urban roadworks and presiding over the groundbreaking for a new photovoltaic power plant to improve local electricity access.
