Drone security breaches in Newcastle

Overview

NSW Police confirmed multiple incidents of illegal drone activity occurring throughout July and August at Newcastle Airport and the Williamtown RAAF base. Local officers initially responded to reports of unauthorised Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) activity before the investigation was expanded.

NSW Police are collaborating with the Australian Defence Force and other partner agencies to identify the drones and their pilots. As of August 20, no arrests or charges have been made in connection with these security breaches.
