Drug seizures at Lisbon Airport

Overview

Police at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport seized over 20 kilograms of synthetic drugs hidden within household items, such as pots, lids, trays, and wooden spoons. The seizure took place on August 30 following a targeted inspection of a 61-year-old passenger arriving from Rio de Janeiro.

Officers from the National Unit for Foreigners and Borders (UNEF) detained the individual after identifying inconsistencies in his statements regarding his stay in the Schengen Area. The individual remains in custody pending a referral to the Public Ministry.
