Drug seizures in Greece

Overview

In September 2026, Greek authorities at the Port of Igoumenitsa seized approximately 300.88 kilograms of hydroponic skunk cannabis. The drugs were discovered in 296 airtight nylon packages hidden within a commercial truck transporting fresh meat. The shipment, valued at an estimated 1.2 million euros, originated in Spain and traveled through Italy. A 36-year-old driver with a prior criminal record was arrested, and investigators are determining if the narcotics were destined for the Greek market or intended for transit toward Turkey.
