Drug trafficking investigations in Germany

Overview

In late September 2026, the Düsseldorf District Court suspended an arrest warrant for a 34-year-old real estate agent accused of involvement in a cocaine trafficking network. While prosecutors alleged the importation of 12 tons of cocaine valued at approximately 100 million euros, the court found the large-scale cocaine charges could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt due to inconclusive evidence from encrypted phones. The defendant was released on 250,000 euro bail after admitting to the illegal trade of marijuana.

By mid-October 2026, police in Nuremberg and Schwabach arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of large-scale drug trafficking. Following a search of his residence, authorities seized more than half a kilogram of amphetamine, over 100 ecstasy tablets, and tens of thousands of euros in cash. The suspect was placed in pre-trial detention.
