Dubbo murder of George Kirk

In July 2026, a Newcastle man, Mark Peckham, was found guilty of murdering drug dealer George Kirk during a drug‑related confrontation in Dubbo, New South Wales. The killing occurred on 16 August 2023 when Peckham and an accomplice broke into Kirk’s home and stabbed him.

Two weeks later, the New South Wales Supreme Court sentenced Peckham to 17½ years in prison with a non‑parole period extending to July 2043. His associate, Daniel Fitton, received a separate 15‑month sentence for hindering the investigation.
