In early August 2026, Dutch retail statistics showed a 2.9% year‑on‑year increase in total turnover for June, driven by a 7.5% rise in online sales. While retail bankruptcies fell to a three-year low of 59 during the April-June period, entrepreneur confidence remained in negative territory, with roughly 40% of business owners citing geopolitical situations as a concern. In July 2026, retail turnover continued its upward trend, increasing by 2.8% year-on-year. Sales volume rose by 1.8%, with growth reported across all sub-sectors. Online sales grew by 3.8%, led by clothing and fashion (5.6%) and consumer electronics (5.4%). Within the non-food sector, turnover rose 3.6%, bolstered by a 12.5% increase in drugstores. The food and beverage sector saw a 1.5% rise, supported by a 1.6% increase in supermarket sales.
