Dwayne Johnson is expanding his musical involvement through a professional collaboration with his wife, Lauren Hashian. Hashian has noted that Johnson’s musicality is rooted in his upbringing in a Polynesian household and that the couple previously bonded through private karaoke.

Their recent work includes the album ‘Moana: Voices Across the Ocean’, which Hashian produces and Johnson executive-produces. The project features the song ‘Your Dad’, an acoustic country ballad co-written by Johnson and 2023 American Idol winner Iam Tongi. Johnson has described the track as a “personal tribute to his daughters.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Johnson described music as a lifelong “anchor” and expressed a desire to pursue projects that are personally fulfilling rather than purely commercial. While he has previously contributed to projects such as “You’re Welcome” from the animated Moana, he is now looking to engage more deeply with genres like traditional country and old-school soul.

Johnson’s connection to country music is linked to his teenage years in Nashville, citing influences such as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and George Jones. He also revealed that Willie Nelson gifted him a rare Martin guitar, similar to Nelson’s iconic “Trigger”. While he remains active as a member of the TKO board of directors and in Hollywood, he remains open to future musical endeavors, including the possibility of a duets album.
