Eastern Antioquia economic and export development

Overview

Economic reports indicate that Marinilla has become a significant driver for the Eastern Antioquia subregion in Colombia, contributing approximately 9.3% of the area’s value added. The municipality has experienced notable population growth and maintains one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, supported by expansion in the accommodation and food services sectors.

To support broader economic goals, regional business leaders and organizations are focusing on international trade expansion. Efforts include discussions on improving logistics and diversifying markets to meet national export targets, with a specific emphasis on the growing trade relationship with Venezuela.

In support of these objectives, local initiatives such as the ‘ProColombia te escucha: Exportar es crecer’ event in Marinilla aim to provide entrepreneurs with tools for entering international markets. These programs include training in international negotiation, interculturality, and the use of artificial intelligence for market research to bolster the region’s growing agro-industrial export offerings.
