Ebusco financial liquidity crisis
Overview
Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has faced significant financial instability characterized by a liquidity crisis and concerns regarding its ability to continue as a going concern. While the company reported improved gross profits of 6.1 million euros for the first half of 2026, revenue declined to 22 million euros due to a reduction in bus deliveries.
Financial pressures were intensified by the loss of a contract in Germany, where the public transport provider in Potsdam (ViP Verkehrsbetrieb) cancelled an order for 23 buses because of Ebusco’s inability to guarantee delivery dates. This cancellation contributed to a 15 percent drop in the company’s share price on the Amsterdam stock exchange.
To address these liquidity issues, Ebusco secured a 6 million euro investment from shareholder Rhein Holding. This capital injection, to be delivered in two tranches of 3 million euros, will increase Rhein Holding’s stake in the company from approximately 5.1 percent to 16.6 percent.
