EcoGraf graphite supply agreements and project recognition

Overview

Australian mining company EcoGraf has secured a binding ten-year offtake agreement for natural flake graphite from its Epanko project in Tanzania. Signed with a major German trading house, the contract replaces a previous 2013 agreement and utilizes a tiered supply structure: 20,000 tonnes per year for the first five years, increasing to 40,000 tonnes annually for the remainder of the term.

The deal includes market-based pricing and a minimum price guarantee to assist with project financing. Combined with an existing contract with tk accelis Trading GmbH, the agreement brings EcoGraf’s total secured annual supply for the European market to 40,000 tonnes. To support project expansion, the company is preparing debt financing of up to $105 million through KfW IPEX-Bank.

In a research report by British broker Cavendish Capital Markets, the Epanko project was identified as one of the world’s leading projects for “sustainable value creation.” The technical analysis cited competitive advantages such as low operating costs, high capital efficiency, and favorable flake size distribution.

EcoGraf intends to use its proprietary HFfree purification technology to pursue a dual-track market strategy for both industrial applications and battery anodes. This strategy is positioned to support the development of graphite supply chains that are independent of China.
