Ecological conservation efforts in Querétaro

Overview

The Municipality of Querétaro has initiated several measures to enhance environmental protection and management. The local government began developing management programs for two newly designated Natural Protected Areas, Cañada Bolaños and Cerro Colorado, which are categorized as Ecological Preservation Zones. To support these efforts, the Secretariat of the Environment conducted citizen participation workshops involving residents, academic institutions, and various government agencies to integrate local knowledge into conservation planning.

Following these developments, the Querétaro City Council authorized the donation of an 11,568.92-square-meter urban plot to the Querétaro Trust for Environmental Conservation (FIQMA). The donated land, located in the Paseos del Pedregal II neighborhood, contains endemic vegetation and is intended to help preserve ecological balance and support sustainable development.
