Educational protests and disputes in Argentina

Overview

In Misiones, students and parents occupied Escuela Provincial de Educación Técnica 45 (EPET 45) in Posadas. The protest was driven by allegations of harassment and offensive language by school management and teaching staff. Protesters reported that more than 15 police reports had been filed and expressed frustration with the Consejo General de Educación (CGE) for failing to provide a satisfactory resolution within a promised 48-hour window. Families demanded the removal of the school director and other implicated staff.

In a separate educational conflict, university students occupied the Secretariat of Education at Palacio Pizzurno to demand funding and Progresar scholarships. During negotiations between students and Secretary of Education Carlos Torrendell, Human Capital Minister Sandra Pettovello reportedly intervened via telephone, ordering Torrendell to stop negotiations. Following this intervention, an official arrived to remove Torrendell from his office, preventing further dialogue with the protesters.
