Egypt is actively expanding bilateral relations with various international partners. In discussions with Pakistan, officials focused on agricultural and defense cooperation. Simultaneously, Egypt is deepening economic ties with China, a relationship described by Egyptian Parliament member Mustafa Muzayriq as entering a ‘golden age.’ As the two nations mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have met to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership. During President Xi’s state visit in September 2026, the leaders signed five major agreements and over 20 memorandums of understanding to align Egypt’s Vision 2030 with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. A primary focus remains the fortification of the Suez Canal Economic Zone to expand China's economic and diplomatic footprint in Africa and the Mediterranean. This includes the launch of the third phase of the Sino-Egyptian industrial zone. The TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone now hosts nearly 200 companies and has attracted over $4.7 billion in cumulative investments. ~~Following President Xi’s visit, a forum in Cairo titled ‘Egypt and China: New Horizons and a New Journey~~ Building on this momentum, Egypt’s Minister of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ further highlighted these ties. Organized by the Global Forum for Future Studies and the Egyptian-Chinese General Association, the event emphasized expanding cooperation into the digital economy Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh, stated that more than 3,000 Chinese enterprises are currently operating in Egypt. Saleh noted that Chinese companies have introduced new ~~energy, noting the partnership serves~~ industries, such as ~~a model for cooperation between developing nations. Financial cooperation has reached a new milestone with~~ fiberglass, to the ~~expansion of a local-currency swap line~~ country. Egypt is now seeking to ~~30 billion yuan. Technological~~ expand commercial cooperation also remains a focal point, with Huawei submitting a tender to build Egypt’s AI data centers. During celebrations for China's 77th National Day, the Governor of Alexandria, Ayman Attia, emphasized the deep historical further into sectors including seawater desalination, artificial intelligence, and ~~strategic ties between Egypt~~ digital services.
