Egyptian school year preparations and educational reforms

Egyptian education authorities have begun intensive preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year. In Port Said, Director Mahmoud Badawi has met with stage managers and technical supervisors to coordinate departmental efforts and ensure an organized start to the term.

Administrative priorities include expediting teacher transfers and secondments to achieve balanced staffing, as well as finalizing student transfers across various school types, including official Arabic, language, private, and technical schools. Officials have emphasized the need for periodic school monitoring to resolve obstacles before the term begins.

In Qena, officials have addressed teacher transfers, student admissions, textbook distribution, and the monitoring of private school compliance. Additionally, discussions have focused on the implementation of the Egyptian Baccalaureate system. These reforms aim to shift student assessment from rote memorization toward measuring comprehension, analysis, and application, requiring students to complete at least 60% of weekly and monthly assessments to qualify for examinations.
