Overview

The labor union Eğitim-Bir-Sen has continued its 8th Ordinary General Assembly through various stages of delegate elections across Turkey.

In late September, the election process moved into delegate phases in Sivas and Muğla. In Sivas, the 2nd Branch conducted a three-candidate race, with preliminary results from the Sivas Science and Technology University ballot showing Serdal Berkil receiving 11 votes and Gazi Sonkur receiving 6 votes out of 17 available delegates.

By September 25-26, the election process expanded to Adana, Nevşehir, and Sivas. In Adana, the union implemented the ‘EBS Digital Platform’ for the first time to facilitate voting. Branch President Mustafa Sarıgeçili stated that this digital infrastructure allowed members to use smartphones to identify polling stations and ballot numbers, which enhanced ‘transparency and organizational speed.’ In Nevşehir, Branch President Harun Öcal reported that delegate elections concluded with high participation and ‘democratic maturity.’

Following these stages, the Manisa 1 No’lu Branch completed its delegate elections across 17 districts and the metropolitan representative office. Branch President Ahmet Yasav described the process as a ‘democracy feast,’ noting that the elections were conducted in a transparent, peaceful, and secure environment. He emphasized that the members' expressed will will shape the future direction of the organization.

The newly elected delegates are set to participate in the 8th Ordinary General Assembly to determine the union’s future leadership and strategic direction.
