Additionally, the intensification is influencing Earth’s rotational speed, causing a slight slowdown in rotation as atmospheric energy is redistributed. In South America, the impact is becoming acute. In Ecuador, ocean temperatures have risen by up to 5.2°C, causing extraordinary rainfall that has affected over 29,000 people.
