Elche and Valencia La Liga relegation battle

Elche CF and Valencia CF are engaged in a critical struggle to avoid relegation in La Liga. As of late October, Elche holds 15th place with 10 points and has maintained a five-match unbeaten streak, though the team has struggled to secure wins at home. Valencia sits in 19th place with 6 points and has been searching for its first league victory since September.

By early November, the stakes for the upcoming match at the Martínez Valero stadium remain high. Valencia's sporting director, Braulio Vázquez, has stressed the urgency of the club's situation, stating that the team cannot wait for the January transfer window to address current issues. Elche remains ahead of Valencia by four points, though both clubs view the encounter as a vital opportunity to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Following the match between the two sides, significant crowd congestion at the Martínez Valero stadium triggered complaints regarding safety and accessibility. With 28,360 spectators in attendance, thousands faced bottlenecks at exit points, with some reporting delays exceeding 15 minutes. The congestion was attributed to reduced exit points and ongoing urban redevelopment works by the Elche City Council, a 3.2 million euro project involving new roads and sidewalks expected to conclude by early 2027. Elche CF stated that all legal evacuation measures are being met, but the club is working to reorganize parking to mitigate future bottlenecks.
