Electric vehicle fire incidents in Europe

Overview

A series of incidents involving electric vehicle fires has been reported in Europe.

In late September, an electric vehicle exploded in front of the Bucharest North Railway Station in Romania. Witnesses reported the car suddenly erupted into flames, and while firefighters extinguished the blaze, specialists began investigating the electrical system for potential malfunctions.

In mid-October, another electric vehicle was completely destroyed by fire in an industrial parking lot in Berneck, Switzerland. Emergency responders managed to extinguish the flames and transferred the wreckage to a specialized container. The St. Gallen Cantonal Police Forensic Center is investigating the cause of this fire, which resulted in property damage totaling several tens of thousands of francs.

On October 17, reports confirmed the Berneck incident involved a 29-year-old owner who remained uninjured. Firefighters utilized specialized containment measures during the response to prevent extinguishing water from contaminating nearby water sources. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the destruction.
