Embezzlement case in Lao Cai province

Authorities in Lao Cai have arrested Dang Thi Ly, a former accountant for the Bat Xat District Project Management Board, for the embezzlement of more than 30 billion VND.

Investigations indicate that between February 2018 and October 2023, Ly forged the signature of the Board's Director on 111 fraudulent documents and payment orders. These falsified records allowed her to illegally withdraw construction warranty funds from various projects managed by the Board. Police have issued decisions to prosecute the case and are searching her residence as they work to identify other involved individuals and organizations.
