Embraer record $34.5bn backlog, expands E195‑E2

Embraer closed Q2 2026 with a historic US$34.5 billion order backlog – the seventh straight quarterly record and a 7 % rise from the previous quarter, up 16 % year‑on‑year. The backlog is split among Commercial Aviation (US$15.1 bn), Executive Aviation (US$7.8 bn), Defence & Security (US$6.1 bn) and Services & Support (US$5.5 bn). Deliveries rose 7 % to 65 aircraft, keeping a 12‑month book‑to‑bill ratio of 1.8×, and the company projects total deliveries could reach 255 units by the end of 2026, up from 141 in 2021. The Phenom 300 continues to dominate light‑jet sales, while the C‑390 military cargo aircraft is attracting new international customers. President Francisco Gomes Neto said Embraer is comfortable with its current portfolio but is studying the option of a larger single‑aisle jet, a move that could intensify competition with Airbus and Boeing. The Economist highlighted Embraer’s agility and the short delivery times of its E‑2 family as key drivers of the rapid growth.

In August 2026 Brazil’s development bank BNDES approved financing of up to R$3.7 billion through its Exim Pós‑Embarque line, backed by export‑credit insurance from the Fundo de Garantia à Exportação. The package supports Porter Airlines’ order for 75 E195‑E2 jets – 54 already delivered – with the remaining 19 aircraft scheduled for delivery through 2030. It is the first direct BNDES financing for Embraer aircraft to a Canadian carrier and is intended to sustain production levels and preserve aerospace jobs in Brazil.
