Emergency incidents in Gdańsk

Overview

The city of Gdańsk has experienced multiple emergency incidents involving infrastructure and buildings.

In late September, a major gas main was damaged during construction work near the De La Salle roundabout. The leak caused gas to enter sewage manholes, requiring firefighters to use water curtains to secure the area. While no residential evacuations were necessary, the incident caused significant traffic paralysis across major thoroughfares.

On October 15, a fire broke out at a building owned by Gdańskie Wodociągi located at Wałowa 46. Nine fire brigade units responded to the blaze, and ten people evacuated the building prior to the arrival of emergency responders. No injuries were reported, though the cause and extent of the damage remained unknown.
