Emirates crypto payment rollout

Emirates introduced Crypto.com Pay as a new checkout option for flight bookings, allowing eligible United Arab Emirates residents to pay with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The service is restricted to tickets priced and settled in Emirati dirhams and requires users to confirm the transaction through the Crypto.com app or a QR‑code scan.

Payments are instantly converted from crypto to fiat and deposited into Emirates’ accounts; the airline does not retain any cryptocurrency. Crypto.com’s Dubai subsidiary, holding a Stored Value Facilities licence from the UAE Central Bank, provides the regulated crypto‑to‑fiat rail. The rollout aligns with Dubai’s cashless‑economy initiatives targeting broader digital‑finance adoption by the end of 2026.

Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim highlighted the move as catering to a younger, digitally‑fluent generation, placing the carrier among a handful of airlines worldwide offering crypto‑linked flight payments.
