Emlak Katılım Tasarruf Finansman has advanced its strategy to expand in the alternative financing market by officially submitting applications to regulatory authorities to acquire Katılımevim, Birevim, and İktisat Katılım Bankası. Following previous negotiations, the bank announced via the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that it has requested necessary permits and approvals from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance's General Directorate of Public Enterprises, the Capital Markets Board (SPK), and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). Katılımevim has assured customers that there will be no service interruptions during the transfer process, stating that the transition is intended to leverage Emlak Katılım’s institutional experience to strengthen its market position. The acquisition efforts continue alongside ongoing legal scrutiny. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been investigating capital market transactions, leading to the arrest of Pusula Portföy Chairman Muhammed Yarız, travel bans for 48 individuals, and resignations from Pusula Finans Holding. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek has emphasized that actions are being taken to “protect the rights of participants within the savings finance sector,” noting that because these participants are not professional investors, they require specific protections. Discussions regarding the potential establishment of a management structure similar to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) remain ongoing. Following the arrest of Serdar Turhan, Chairman of Pusula Yatırım Holding—the majority shareholder of Katılımevim and Birevim—and the seizure of assets belonging to him and other executives, the BDDK is implementing sweeping new regulations effective October 1. Under these rules, individuals are restricted to a maximum of two active contracts (one for a vehicle and one for a residence or workplace), with specific financial caps applied to contract amounts and total risk groups.
