E.ON Energy Globe sustainability competition in Czechia
Overview
The 18th E.ON Energy Globe competition in the Czech Republic has entered its final stages after receiving 289 project submissions. A jury from the Academy of Sciences selected five finalists to compete for a top prize of 500,000 CZK through a public vote.
Among the finalists is the village of Ratiboř, which has achieved energy self-sufficiency by utilizing photovoltaics on municipal buildings to produce approximately 130 MWh of electricity annually. The village also incorporates waste heat from a local restaurant and manages rainwater and ponds. Other shortlisted projects include plastic and tire recycling, a school climate garden program in Brno, a specialized farmer school for ecological agriculture, and satellite-based tree health monitoring.
