Esposende City Park development
Overview
The Esposende City Park, a 10-hectare public green space situated along the Cávado River within the North Coast Natural Park, has been officially inaugurated. The project involved an investment of approximately 4.95 million euros and received support through the NORTE 2030 program.
The development includes pedestrian and cycling paths, leisure zones, outdoor event spaces, a playground, and a bird observatory. It also features structures intended to support local flora and fauna. During the inauguration, Mayor Carlos Silva noted that the project scope was adjusted because approximately 7.9 hectares originally planned were not legally classified as part of the public water domain. Minister of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho described the park as a “significant case study for integrating nature preservation within urban contexts.”
