Establishment of Liga MX Copa Promesas youth tournament

Overview

Liga MX, in collaboration with Liga Premier and Liga TDP, has announced the creation of the Copa Promesas 2026-2027. This new Sub-21 football tournament is designed to strengthen youth development by providing a competitive platform for emerging talents.

The competition is scheduled to run from September 8, 2026, to April 13, 2027, featuring 64 teams across various levels of Mexican football. Participants include 18 clubs from Liga MX, 15 from Liga Premier, and 31 from Liga TDP. To facilitate competition, teams will be organized into 16 regional groups of four based on geographic location. Scouts from Liga MX clubs and the Mexican National Team are expected to attend matches to identify talent.
