Eswatini economic and digital development initiatives

Eswatini is implementing various initiatives to bolster its economic landscape through sustainability, digital inclusion, and intellectual property protection.

Efforts to promote green trade and entrepreneurship include a partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) to establish a Sustainable Centre at the 2026 Eswatini International Trade Fair. This initiative focuses on green business and enterprise competitiveness. Simultaneously, the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO), in collaboration with the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) and the UNDP, launched the Pigg’s Peak i-Hub to bridge the digital divide for youth, women, and people with disabilities by supporting e-commerce and remote work.

In the creative sector, the Eswatini Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) is encouraging fashion entrepreneurs to prioritize brand registration through the ‘IP Runway: The Business of Fashion’ workshop. The program emphasizes treating intellectual property as a vital asset to enable designers to protect their identities and access international markets, including potential connections to the United States.
