EU disaster recovery funding for Spain and Romania
Overview
The European Union has allocated 134.8 million euros from the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) to assist Spain and Romania in recovering from natural disasters that occurred in 2025.
Spain is designated to receive 120.5 million euros to address damages from extreme heatwaves, prolonged drought, and three major wildfire waves. These funds are intended for environmental restoration, fire defense infrastructure, sustainable irrigation, and the repair of roads and power lines.
Romania is allocated 14.3 million euros following heavy rainfall and flooding in the Centru, Sud Muntenia, and Nord-Est regions. The aid will support emergency operations and regional recovery efforts following structural damage and power outages caused by the floods.
