European and German milk price trends
Overview
European and German milk markets have faced downward price pressures throughout mid-2026. In June, average standard milk prices in Europe remained relatively stable at 40.04 euros per 100 kg, despite a significant price drop by Germany’s Deutsches Milchkontor (DMK) following its merger with Arla Foods. Long-term trends indicated that prices were more than 20 percent lower than the previous year.
By July, the downward trend extended into the organic milk sector in Germany. Prices for organic milk have been declining since the start of the year, with some dairies dropping rates below 60 cents per kilogram. This decline is largely attributed to a 5.7 percent increase in organic milk deliveries reported in June. Despite these falling rates, the price premium for organic milk remains significant, with a gap of approximately 25 cents over conventional milk.
