European cybersecurity and geopolitical security conferences

In early September 2026, security conferences in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia addressed broader geopolitical and digital vulnerabilities. The Sarajevo Security Conference focused on a fragmented European security landscape, with analyst Emina Muzaferija stating that ‘the old international order is effectively dead while a new one has yet to be established.’ Simultaneously, the Infosek conference in Nova Gorica addressed the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, noting that human error remains a primary vulnerability following recent cyberattacks.

Later in the month, the focus shifted toward specialized defense in Croatia. The tenth International Cybersecurity Conference in Osijek, themed ‘Cybersecurity as a Pillar of Defense,’ was scheduled to address insecurity stemming from hybrid threats, geopolitical tensions, and digital dependency. Discussions were set to cover technical advancements such as post-quantum cryptography and operational technology security, alongside programs for protecting children in digital environments.
