European Heritage Days in Spain

The European Heritage Days (JEP) are being observed across various Spanish regions, centered on the theme ‘Heritage at Risk: revive, resist, reimagine’.

In the Sénia region, activities have already commenced with events at Ereta de Bel and Capbreus de la comanda. Upcoming programming includes the Festa del Tossal del Rei on October 4, organized by several municipalities, alongside a series of lectures and guided tours scheduled through November across multiple locations such as Morella and Alcanar.

In the province of Almería, the Junta de Andalucía is hosting over twenty free cultural activities throughout October and November. The program includes an exhibition at the Provincial Historical Archive, lectures and workshops on Paleolithic and rock art at the Museo de Almería, and a collaborative podcast project at the Francisco Villaespesa Public Library to record oral traditions. Specific events are also planned to commemorate European Rock Art Day on October 9, with activities spanning sites such as the Alcazaba and Los Millares.

Expanding on these regional efforts, the Junta de Andalucía has launched initiatives in Granada, Almería, and Cádiz that focus on archaeology, architecture, and traditional crafts to promote conservation awareness. In Jaén, a new cultural school program has been introduced, utilizing museums and archaeological sites for interactive learning. This program incorporates 3D reproduction and the digitalization of artifacts to improve accessibility, specifically for individuals with visual impairments.
