European luxury vehicle theft and forgery investigation

Authorities in Spain, specifically the Mossos d’Esquadra, recovered nine high-end vehicles valued at approximately 640,000 euros following an investigation into fraudulent registration and document forgery. The recovered assets included four Porsche Carrera 4 GTS models, a Maserati Levante Modena, a Range Rover Sport SVR, and two Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The investigation was triggered in July 2025 after officials detected irregularities in the registration of a vehicle imported from Italy. This led to the interception of a stolen Maserati being registered with falsified Italian documentation. Further discoveries of vehicles with similar fraudulent characteristics allowed police to uncover a larger network.

The stolen vehicles originated from Denmark, France, and Italy. The network reportedly manipulated chassis numbers and attempted to use official blank documentation stolen from Italy and Austria to register the cars. Subsequent police searches led to the recovery of vehicles in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Figueres, Gavà, and La Bisbal del Penedès.

A 51-year-old man has been criminally charged with suspected involvement in fraud, money laundering, receiving stolen goods, and document forgery. Investigators also seized several stolen blank logbooks and identified that some vehicles had already been sold to unsuspecting third parties.
