European municipal swimming pool accessibility upgrades

Overview

Local authorities and community organizations in Europe have implemented measures to improve accessibility in public swimming facilities.

In Morella, Spain, the City Council utilized funds from the Integrated Centre for Economic Services to install a lifting machine at the Jaume I Sports Centre. This equipment, costing 3,803.73 euros, aims to assist individuals with reduced mobility and functional diversity, particularly for rehabilitation purposes.

In Maranello, Italy, the Rotary Club Modena L.A. Muratori collaborated with the local municipality to upgrade the Parco dello Sport swimming pool. The initiative focused on installing specialized equipment in pool areas and changing rooms to reduce physical barriers for children and young people with disabilities, with the goal of fostering autonomy and participation in paralympic sports.
