European organized crime crackdown

Overview

Law enforcement agencies across Europe have launched large-scale operations targeting organized crime and financial offenses.

In the United Kingdom, the Metropolitan Police, HMRC, and the FCA conducted dawn raids at 24 properties across London and several surrounding counties. The operation resulted in 17 arrests of individuals suspected of holding senior roles in serious organized crime groups. During a warrant execution in Barnet, a police officer sustained a non-life-changing stab wound to the leg.

Simultaneously, authorities in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Bulgaria coordinated a massive crackdown involving over 1,000 officers. This operation targeted more than 100 properties to disrupt international money laundering networks and criminal organizations. Investigators issued 14 arrest warrants and seized assets worth approximately 48.6 million euros. The suspects face various allegations, including extortion, organized fraud, and tax evasion. While some reports suggested the involvement of the Hells Angels, police spokespeople stated they could neither “confirm nor deny” the involvement of that specific organization.
